Found out last night my job for the weekend was going to be for a Moshi Monsters book signing session and the client had asked if I was able to try and make some Moshi Monsters for the kids instead of the usual.

For those of you that have never heard of Moshi Monsters here is a link to the site  //http://www.moshimonsters.com/.  It would appear that it is some sort of online game aimed at 7-11 year olds to which they have started to merchandise!

However, in my eyes (and with the time available between now and Saturday) they do not lend themselves to twisting so have come up with this instead:-

I feel that this is recognisable as Moshi themed to fans and to anyone else looks like a fairly Halloween-ish type balloon!  I will probably use friendly eyes for the girls and scary eyes for the boys.

However if anyone can come up with anything else on this theme that I can make for the queue whilst they are waiting for their books to be signed please do share.

I didn't have very long to spend on this Yvonne and so I am sure that this model could be improved upon but here is the cat that is on the webpage of Moshi Monsters.

If I was quicker (and better) at artwork then this would be fast enough for linework.

Cheers Martin but as I have yet to master a raisin twist I suspect that will be out of my reach for Saturday.  I had contemplated trying to do bracelets of the characters but again it would involve raisin twists  :(

Maybe not... The Don Caldwell wrist-friends design on MH&WW5 would do the job nicely and would not involve a raisin twist - very simple design too.

Here is one of the moshi monsters, it may also work with the main balloon being a heart, I used a 660/646. You could also put the head onto a basic hat in red as well.
And if you had all the correct colours for artwork it would look 100% better than my limited black artwork  ;)
Can you frumple twist, (side bubble) the eye on the wand so that it looks sideways rather than upwards?

I'll confess I had to look up Frumple Twists but will have a bash at them.  Graham I like your design for the rabbit one and will have a go at that tomorrow too.

Martin I don't have any of Don Caldwell's CD's / DVD's yet (not sure which his are either to be honest) as they are on my to get list and I would hazzard a guess that even if I ordered it now I won't get them before the weekend  :(

To Yvonne, and anyone else out there with time constraints or issues with raisin twists etc.

Just use glue dots, or even double sided tape (cut a aquare off, stick to balloon, and pull of the backing).      Both options are applied in seconds, last forever unless there is serious stress pulling the balloons apart (although raisins tend to wither and undo with that type or stress too).

I'm sure some balloon purists won't agree with me, but you have glue dots or DS Tape, all you need to do is make each component and stick them together, looks great is easy, and allows for much greater creativity.

Once the designs are figured out, you work use raisins or other balloon methods, but until then make better sculptures, in less time, and impress the client more by using GD or DS.

Yvonne,

I LOVE raisins... yummy. JUST KIDDING. I remember a new twister literally putting  real raisins in the balloon though. I never thought to ask how it worked for him. What kind are you using :)

I remember hating to use raisins in balloons... then one day I just burped the balloon a little more than usual and it worked like a charm!

Keep trying... you'll like it, I promise.

I've been using knotted scraps of balloons but to be completely honest I haven't invested much time in trying to get it right either.  I had planned to do so much once the kids went back to school after the summer but I have been ill so often (same thing but can't shake it) I have got nowhere.

I am hoping a few lie-in's during half term next week to shake it and then I can get cracking again.

Yvonne,

Perhaps we could have a web jam... I could give you some real time tips then.

Keep trying :)

Hi all.

I had a first attempt at IGGY. I think it turned out well...

But i feel that it could easily be improved.. They are fun characters to make balloon sculptures from.

Sorry for the photo quality. I have asked Santa for a new one for xmas. (Camera that is) :)

I had one to make a few weeks ago and decided to have a go at Diavlo. I like Kenny was unable to get a great shot but here's one of the best I did managed to get.

Dan! you did a good job on that.

I feel it's always good to come up with your own preception of a subject and create it out of balloons! Then is when you find out new twists etc.
