Common guys, 43 views and not one response! I have only been twisting since 25th July 2008, which was my daughters birthday and since been totally hooked. I got this design from //http://www.balloonhq.com/column/dewey/jul08/ Think it will go down well for halloween.

they are really good Popsie - quick and striking by the looks of them - well done

The masks look good, but I have some concern about making balloons to go over faces. I once was mouth-inflating a 260 (Yes, I've been twisting long enough to go back to when you had no choice. If you couldn't mouth inflate, you couldn't really do balloons.) and the balloon burst. It hit me in the eye and broke my hard contact lens, leaving 2 fragments in the eye and the center of the lens missing. As representatives of the art and the industry of balloons we need to exhibit responsible behavior that includes safety for artists and guests alike.

There are a lot of wonderful mask designs available, but I haven't been able to bring myself to make them because of safety concerns.

I thought they looked nice as well, but for the same reasons as modine I'd have concerns with the masks going over the eyes of the children, but they are nicely made :D

Geeze, this is where I now walk with my tail between my legs and glad I met you guys. I never would have thought how dangerous that was. Thanks for sharing your story Modine and hope there wasn't any long term damage. I am very glad I have learnt this lesson now and not the hard way!

I don't know if there is already a thread for "Balloon Health & Safety", if not it may be good to start one as a guide for new comers like myself!

Kind regards,
Popsie

I saw these on balloon hq and like you thought wow, great, easy and quick, but then heard graham mention it ( about the saftey of the children ) and decided against making them. But if you turn them upside down they make nice crown's for the girls, (without drawing the eyes on ).

Cheers Adie

and turning them upside down, take the eye balloons out, attach a straight 260 on the side youve got the old fashioned hand held mask for ADULTS, like in a masquerade ball.
I think they are safe enough for grown ups plus they arent attached close to the face.

using gold or metallic 160s, decorate with "jewels" could look quite posh.

tbh i just thought how on earth are they supposed to see properly? Kids falling over equals unhappy kids and unhappy parents. But if you convert into a hat and put skull high up. Fine. Sometimes the best idea has flaws and getting advice from seasoned pro,s and comments from relative new twisters like me and many others, can help develop ballooning into the safest possible fun!

i saw this on balloonhq and made it 3 or 4 times if you make any thing to go over the eyes you have to be carefull but it you make the balloon soft they shouldnt be any problams but dont blame me if some thing goes wrong :P
