Another one from Buster Balloons DVD collection. As I am working through some of the stuff for myself, I wanted the end result to go to a good home, so this one was a gift to whoever was my 500th facebook friend (as I was up to 499)

Took it down to the pub tonight to present it. The winner loved it, I got a birthday booking from it, and a provisional wedding  :D  :D  :D
Kind regards

An opinion question...I made a Spike yesterday just building according to the picture.  (I was not fortunate enough to pick up one of the collections).  I went through the pain of doing the frumple twist for the muzzle area.  I don't know if it is any better than just doing a loop and tying the nose/tongue together and pushing the nose through the loop.  It would make Spike tons easier to do with the loop rather than the frumple.  Thoughts?

(I did the frumple twist for a snakes head, and that was well worth it!  It was cool.  I'm just not sure if the "wow" from it is there for Spike.)

Hi Lynnae,

Hope you are well, and getting on well with these tricky twists, I am finding they really do get easier, and thinking what was I making such a fuss for !!!!!!!!!

My next aim is getting to grips with twisting 646's, for a project I'm working on for the summer.

I have used the standard nose/tongue through a loop ever since the late, and amazingly great David Grist showed me at one of the Millenium jams, when I shared a chalet with him and Graham........we did have some fun  :D  :D

I find it works great on smaller models, but unless fixed , or tied in close to the face, can fall through a bigger loop.

I love the shape Don's "Spike" has on his muzzle, and would love to see how yours worked out to compare. Could you maybe put a picture up ???

Incidentaly, Don's "Spike" does not use a frumple twist, but a completely different method to get that cuteness, and is far easier. I would explain this, but in fairness to Buster Balloon, and in the spirit he released the DVD, I don't feel it would be right to ........ Sorry  ;)
Kind regards
Kevin

Funny enough, I was lucky to learn that same technique from the late/great David Grist myself!  Many moons ago, he did a convention in North Carolina, USA (where I lived at the time) and I was able to attend.  I was just getting into twisting at the time and didn't have any idea what a true honor that was at the time!  To this day, I still remember him teaching the skunk, then putting a penny in it for a "(s)cent".

Good luck with those 646s.  I've really only tried them once and decided that I'll give them a go.....later, much later!  :)

Here's my take on Spike and his sister, Lulu (at least that's what I'm calling her for now).  They are so much fun!!!  (I wasn't asking for any secrets from Don's DVDs, trust me!)  I've done several of the frumple twists, and they are definitely getting easier.

Had a quick go at Spike for a birthday delivery yesterday... a bit 'bozzy' eyed (the dog not me!).

I made him working straight off the video and as Don does not add the nose until last I wimped out and rubber cemented it as I did not have time to re-make if I popped the muzzle balloon.

Love the colours....I'm not sure, is the blue dog a cartoon character....it rings a bell somewhere  :D

PS. Just noticed my pics went missing from the first post when the site went bonkers, so I have just replaced them !
