Swans kissing bracelet. Perhaps a bit too detailed for my normal restaurant twisting, but for an extra special occasion, it would be perfect. (Happy anniversary! Congrats on your engagement!)

If done with 260s instead of 160s, I can see this design being used as a centerpiece.

Happy twisting,

It would be nice for a new baby centerpiece too Bonnie as it makes me think of a mother stork feeding its baby and the blue and pink design also adds the that thought.  ITs a very nice design.

Glad ya'll like the design. :)

Thelma, I thought about what you said and I can see that you are correct.  The design does lend itself to a mother/baby design.

To take away some of the mother/baby look of the design, I changed the wings, bills, and eyes to gold.   I think I like it better than the original pink and blue.

To add to the mother/baby look of the design, I used fuchsia for the momma's wings and bubble gum pink for the baby's wings.  Then I separated the bills and made the momma's bill rest atop the baby's head (going for the look of Mother's comfort).

Happy twisting,

These are 3 of the 5 Ugly Ducklings I made for story time.  The first two are bracelets, the last is a hat.

The first represents the cygnet just after hatching. It was made with a 160 for the nest, a 260 body, and a black 160 for the bill and eyes.

The second represents his first swim.  It was made with the same construction as the first one, just different colors and a single bubble for the bill. Also his neck was made just slightly longer.

The third swan represents the Ugly Duckling just before he runs away.  He was made with a 260 hat base and main construction.  A 160 was used for the eyes, bill, and legs.

I used versions of Patricia Bunnell's swan hat to represent the full sized but still gray Ugly Duckling and the beautiful swan at the end of the story. (Sorry, I forgot to get pics of those.)

Hi Bonnie

I love your kissing swans, and have been looking for an excuse to make them for ages, then I got an enquirey for a wedding.

I made them up this afternoon, and was quite pleased with the result, (although they do not seem to sit very well), and will offer them as an alternative centrepiece to the usual bride and groom

Thank you so much for sharing your fabulous creations with us  :D  :D  :D

Hope you are well
Kind regards
Kevin

Good morning Phoenix,
Thanks for the compliment and I'm glad the design will come in handy for you.

I studied the swans you made to see why they were not sitting well.  As near as I can tell you made them like the first two photos.  The swan design you used is similar to what I make but is not the same.  This minor difference is what is causing the problem with the sitting.

To make them sit properly, I added a very soft center bubble to the base as well as a second row of small bubbles all the way around.

to be continued...

Then I noticed how high the chests rested so I tied them down.  I wrapped an un-inflated balloon around the chest bubbles, then pulling as firmly as I dared, connected the ends to the pinch twists on the base.

to be continued...

This pulled the chests down closer to the water.  It also left a little "pocket" under the chests where a weight could be added and hidden if you wanted.

These minor adjustments allows the swans to sit with no problem.

Happy twisting,

I thought I'd have a go at Bonnie's swans.............well it seemed to go wrong and I ended up with one in flight. The underside looks like a good plane though
