I've been asked many times how I come up with designs.  This is one of the ways.

When Qualatex changed their 321 bee bodies from ruby red to standard red the first thing I did when I received the new ones was to try them out.  I made a parrot with one.

As I was making the parrot, the eyes slipped up to the top of the head and it occured to me that it looked sorta like a human head. So I grabbed a white 321 and made a quick clown face.  I wasn't too thrilled with it so I just tossed it onto my work table...

As I came back from getting a cup of coffee I happened to glance at the clown face and when viewing it laying on its side and upside down I thought it looked like a bird... So I changed the clown lips into a beak and the eyes into feet. It was an OK bird but it got me thinking how to change into a usable design.

I decided it needed the blue to come up onto the head portion too and that I might look good with a top knot (like a blue jay)... So I made one.  It was OK, but I didn't like how the cheeks went all the way around the head.

So I made another with much smaller cheek bubbles.  This one I liked.

And that's one way I come up with designs.

So,....imagine you want to make a shoe from a heart balloon, and you have Thelma around.....
It doesn't work!
I can tell you, but....thats how a shoe bird was born today!!!

The story behind it is that I was trying to create a shoe with a heart, but it diddn't worked the way I wanted it. So I added some twists and thought it could become a bird. On the back you can still see that it was a shoe, that's why we called it a shoe bird.

I get the blame for everything!!!  As it was supposed to be a stiletto shoe, maybe it could be a Stiletto Bird.  We had great fun playing anyway and it is a good thread to put your bird on Petra because it shows another example of designing.  Don't keep your mind narrow to the thing you are aiming at but always look at the other possibilities  as you are working.
