Balloon Chit Chat / Re: DVDs v. Downloads

I use a program called DVD Catalyst (free to try and $9.95 to buy) to convert the DVD to an MP4 file, then avidemux (free download) to split it up.

I copy all my DVDs to my PC, but split into a different file for each balloon model.  That way if I need a cat, for example, I can search my PC balloon directory for "cat" and see all cat videos along with any Word or pdf documents that I have for cat balloon sculptures.

I'm with you,  Lynnae!  Either buy the DVD and copy it to your PC or else you could buy the pdf and copy it to a DVD for off-line storage.  And if the DVD is not copy-protected, I purchased the DVD, and I'm only copying it so that I can view it in a convenient format/on a convenient device (and only copying it for myself), I see nothing wrong in copying it.  I think the only legal problem is when you are copying it and either selling or giving it to someone else.

Balloon Chit Chat / Re: Storing balloons

My solution is pretty low-tech:  Other than what I have that I bring with me to gigs, I have one plastic box full of the bags of 260s that I have already opened ("active storage").  And I have other plastic boxes with spare bags in alphabetical order of color (labeled with things like "260s blue-gold", "260s green-red").  I have a Word document listing the various colors and how many I have left in the "spare bags" storage.   Whenever I open a new bag from my "spare bags" and put in "active storage", I update the quantity in the Word document.  Then when I order balloons, I only need to reference the Word document.  Other sizes/shapes of balloons have a similar system.

Graham,
When I try to look at any of the photos you posted in this thread, I get an error of "The selected attachment does not exist anymore."  I can see the photo that Helen just posted.

D is for a cute dragon.  The last one is from Tonya McNeill's Rodents, Rabbits, and Reptiles pdfs.  The first two are two views of my attempt to upsize it from 160s to 360s.

D is for Dragon.  The first one is Ed Chee's dragon as posted in Balloon Magic magazine.  The second one is my attempt to upsize it to use 350s.
