Large Balloon Sculptures Techniques Day–12th September 2011
Balloons and Tunes – Telephone 01827 316600
Unit 2 Alvecote Stud Farm, Robeys lane, Tamworth, B78 1AS
10 am – 5pm (ish)

Had lots of requests to do this again - so after talking to Graham and Roger we have agreed on 12th September as a date we can all make.

A repeat of the last day ... probably...
New designs and displays discussed... probably...

Large balloon sculptures are often seen as the more Artistic elements of the balloon Industry and still a big part in Events and Competitions. Who in the industry does not stop and admire them. Most are unique and elements in them have always had to be designed and created by the artist .

As the Balloon industry evolves we can these days create large sculptures with a larger number of techniques and sizes of balloons, with and without framework.. Too many to show and learn in one day. But we can try to offer and share a few, and discuss the extra elements needed and looked for in competition pieces.

As we are talking BIG Sculptures, space is need so we need to limit the numbers on the day – hopefully giving us all room to be creative as well. Who kows if over subscribed we may do it again!!

Paul Pearce of //http://www.ballonsandtunes.co.ukwill discuss and display the techniques involved in using SDS panels to create large sculptures ( wonder if it will be a castle again or something different!!)

Graham Lee of //http://www.grahamleesmagic.co.uk will be again part of the day demonstrating and sharing his dress making weaves and techniques. As some sculptures these days use this as frame work, so will help when deciding what sort of frame work you want to use when looking to create a your own large balloon sculptures..

Roger Daws of //http://www.iglobo.co.uk/ will be a part of the day demonstrating and sharing the use Framework with Wrap and film, with individual balloons. And showing how to create amazing sculptures from these designs.

All 3 classes are hands on... We know the techniques...

There will be time for us all to create and design within the day too, Techniques rather than a whole sculpture, but who knows where we will end up!

We are looking for it to be again based more on the care and share days Fun format and style of presentation and design rather than a full structured training day. So the cost to participants will be kept low at £60 per person – but do remember it's limited numbers

Travel lodge at M42 junction 10 is about 1.5 - 2 miles away and at present has rooms at £19 each if you want to book one for the night before. Or there is also a premier inn in the same area.

We will sort a buffet lunch for those who come and at the end of the day we have a carvery about 1 mile the other way to the travel lodge at present £3.69 each if you want a meal together before we all go home..

Send me an email booking your place – mailto:pam@balloonsandtunes.co.uk">pam@balloonsandtunes.co.uk – and I will send you a response confirming your place..

regards

Balloon Chit Chat / Twisting aprons?
June 06, 2011, 10:07:02 AM
What price twisiting aprons?

Do twisting aprons wear?

Reason for asking looking for one for equipment available for our training courses, not at present for either of us to use as we are happy with bags.

If they do wear does anyone have  a second hand one for sale I could use as an example?

What else would you need to use one?

Thinking aloud as not soemthign I have personally considered.
If they are not expesive I will probably buy one

Thanks in advance for any advice and help

We are ready to promote the next day at our new unit (its still not full up with kit by Paul just yet)

We have decided to offer a 'Weddings' day, but NOT the traditional centrepieces and helium filled Classic decor, but extras you can add to the Event, with balloons.

The day will take place again at our Tamworth unit 10-4/5pm ish
on Thursday 26th May 2011..

This time we have the following workshops taking place:-

Downstairs we have our own Graham Lee and his romance balloons of using flowers and extras inside balloons WITHOUT having to pay out for expensive balloon stuffing machines (there is one available to show the difference if he wants to!!! If this is wrong and he is doing something else he will tell us...

Front downstairs Paul will be creating balloon displays with bought frames.. Hearts, Stars, Arches, Walk through Heart Frame and the over the cake Princess Carriage.. So many times on websites you see the spirals change and he will demonstrate how to make it easier to do and how put it right... so yours is correct.

Upstairs we are proud to have the Amazing Chris Horne with Amscan Decorator Designs to enhance and upgrade your skills and portfolios for Weddings and beyond with balloon displays

We will supply a Buffet lunch and breaks in the back room again with lots of time for networking and sharing each other's ideas as we did last time. If you want to bring cream cakes you can..

The structure of the charges for the day will be £75 per person if paid in full by 20th May & £99 per person if paid after that date or on the day.

As before we have a local travel lodge and premier Inn at J10 M42 and can meet up the night before and have local pub 1mile away called pretty pigs for Breakfast at £2.99 and at the end of our day a great carvery at £3.69 each (who knows crown carvery may put more vouchers on facebook to reduce the price further)

If you are interested in joining us and to book your place on the day of fun and training, either pm me or email me mailto:pam@balloonsandtunes.co.uk">pam@balloonsandtunes.co.uk and I will send you a confirmation

Remember we are limited in numbers, so it's first come first served..

Look forward to another fun day

Balloon Decor / A Wedding Designs extras day???
April 11, 2011, 08:41:37 AM
After the sucess of the last day we had at our new premises, been thinking....

How about a day of Wedding and party!! NOT traditional centrepieces in helium filled 11" but different things

Like maybe

How to correctly cover a bought frame! from a heart to a star to the walk through/cake table carriage..?
or
making different column designs?
or
using twisted balloons as the base/table centrepiece?
or
using different ways of stuffing different sizes of balloons?
or
using fantasty flowers?

some of my ideas, how about yours?

let me know what you think

Making Large Balloon Sculptures Day– 21st March 2011
Balloons and Tunes – Telephone 01827 316600
Unit 2 Alvecote Stud Farm, Robeys lane, Tamworth, B78 1AS
10 am – 5pm (ish)

Now we have the Keys and the facility, Balloons and Tunes will be hosting a Large Sculptures awareness/demonstration day on 21st March 2011 at the new extended unit.

As we are talking BIG Sculptures, space is need so we need to limit the numbers on the day to the first 10 – hopefully giving us all room to be creative as well. Who kows if over subscribed we may do more!!1

Paul Pearce will demonstrate and share how he makes and uses Aluminium rod frame work and balloon duplets in creating sculptures & SDS panels for more than just signage and discuss other styles of sculptures created by Balloons and Tunes. And how to do them

Roger Daws of http://www.iglobo.co.uk/ will be a part of the day demonstrating and sharing the use Framework with Wrap and film, with individual balloons. And showing how to create amazing sculptures from these designs.  Also sharing his preferred method of design.

Our very own Graham Lee will also be part of the day demonstrating and sharing his dress making weaves and techniques. As some sculptures these days use this as frame work, so will help when deciding what sort of frame work you want to use when looking to create a your own large sculptures..

(He may bring his balloon shop too for those looking to buy on the day, or if you contact him will definately bring your orders – with 2 floors in the new unit we have the space)

There will be time for us all to create and design within the day too, Techniques rather than a whole sculpture, but who knows where we will end up!!!

As this is the first of these and we are looking for it to be based more on the care and share days format and style of presentation and design rather than a full structured training day. So the cost to participants will be kept low at £50 per person – but do remember it's the first 10 only

All product used on the day will be supplied and a buffet lunch for those who attend.

Travel lodge at M42 junction 10 is about 1.5 - 2 miles away and at present has rooms at £19 each if you want to book one for the night before. I will sort a buffet lunch for those who come and at the end of the day we have a carvery about 1 mile the other way to the travel lodge at present £3.69 each if you want a meal together before we all go home..

Balloon Chit Chat / Balloon event weekend question?
September 18, 2010, 10:41:53 AM
Thinking out loud!!! seeing what others think, not thinkign of doing it - you know at times I do!! You can PM me if you dont want to put your response on open forum

Have put this in balloon Decor chat as well as not all decorators look into this section..

What would you think of a NABAS weekend style event where as in day one you could do design and portfolio at a price with party tickets for the evening. at a fixed price for the day.

party tickets at a price for those that dont do day but want to go to the party

Next day just a selection of seminars you can either go into stay for a short while and mix inbetween them, go to another or if real interested go to another as well running the same time and a jam room - no exhibition with a fixed cost of for example £60/70 for this day

You book your own hotel froom locally if you want to stay for the weekend, or arrive the day before etc..

let me know what you think

April 27, 2010, 08:01:44 AM
Blatant I know!!! - for All NABAS members

We have received our email from NABAS office and had the information by post last Friday

If you have received yours and not voted by post, please take a moment to consider and reply casting your votes.

It is important to vote in any election; This one is for the people you want to represent you on your committee in your industry and for all of us its better to have someone you can approach and trust to put your points forward. Remember you are the members its up to you to have your say..

So please vote! who you vote for is your decision, but please vote - I know you have till the 21st May, but most of the time if you are like me if you dont answer an email instantly it goes down the list and is forgotten about. If you think he will try to do his best (Goes without saying) and wish to vote for Paul please do so, and he will thank you for it. But please in the first instance Vote:

Politics over! off Soap Box: Time now to get back to work and have some fun!!

Balloon Chit Chat / Thank you Krazy Kev
October 20, 2009, 11:51:11 AM
What can I say - but Thank you Krazy Kev

You came to Kidology in Wolverhampton - they saw your van with Spongebob on it, phoned you ( can you believe she was prepared to drive to County Durham to collect it!!) you gave her our details she booked it from me (with a Spopngebob singing birthday balloon!!). Is collecting it later today.

I had a practise, a customer arrived booked balloons for an 18th birthday and Spongebob became the proud centrepiece on the Buffet table ( plus another singing one)

Thank you

Pam
