Balloon Chit Chat / so excited had such great day
October 03, 2012, 07:47:25 PM
I have just had my first encounter with a TV studio today.

Can't say a lot at the moment but am very excited.

It was a bit of a pain as as it all ended up a bit rushed, as some workers tuned up and started strimming and chainsawing causing the sound-man problems eventually got them to stop and then the director was stressed and it was a bit strained.

But still a great experience and may be more to come.

Will update when I can.

Balloon Decor / Rewind I just saw my balloons.
September 16, 2012, 08:27:14 AM
I was sitting watching "Be your own Boss" on BBC3 and I saw some balloon decoration I had done recently, I shouted to my family "rewind quick they are my balloons" problem was we don't have any way to rewind (too use to watching DVDs   ).

I do quite a lot of balloon decoration outside a pup in London "the Golden Heart" in Commercial Street, and they were filming the start just around the corner and used the balloons as an establishing shot.

I have attached a picture taken from Iplayer  (Décor I did for the Queens jubilee) and 2 of the other décor I have done for the pub 1 for when the Olympic torch went past the pub, and the other for the Paralympics.

Hope you like them.

Marketing........plus Advertising Work / head bands
September 11, 2012, 05:57:47 AM
Hi
as some of you are aware I have a stall in London well recently I was talking to one of the other traders who trades in hair bands, I said about the use of hair bands for balloon head ware. They said they thought they could get the Alice bands for me from china a lot cheaper, well they have but I have. I have had to buy thousands so I am offering to share my good fortune with others. I expect the price will be 10p each plus postage once I have paid import duty etcetera will confirm this.

These will be plain black around 8mm wide with no teeth. if anyone is interested please let me know. The container they are in wont be in for around 4 weeks. Will post picture as soon as they arrive.

By the way I am not intending to start any form of wholesale business I can't cope with what I am doing at the moment, it is just that I had the chance to get them cheep  and had to buy thousands.

Balloon Review / 052 - FENGDN BALLOON PUMP REVIEW
September 10, 2012, 02:25:02 PM
I was recently asked to do a product test of this little red rechargeable balloon pump. I have not been a fan of electric pumps and I have tried a few in the past and found them a bit noisy clumsy or not very well made.
I have used the pump at my retail outlet in London at decorating jobs and at 2 entertainment gigs, and have found this to be a very good all-round pump for the price.
The pump feels well made and very solid compared to other electric pumps I have tried in this price range. As to charge I received it on a Monday with the " from factory" charge and it lasted for ages before I needed to charge it. When I did charge it I only had a couple of hours before the gig on the Sunday morning and after 2 hours on charge I then went and did a gig which lasted 4 hours and during this time inflated quite a few balloons and it coped admirably.
Retail use:- I like to add round balloons and other  such  decorations to bubble balloons etc, and I found this to be a really good tool for the job. It does not take up to much room on my work area and I found it a real asset.
Decoration use:- I have a precision air so would not use it for inflation of 5" on a large scale but found it a real bonus when it came to inflation of 160, 260 & 350 balloons it provides a good steady flow of air (not good for 646's). I found it really easy to make balloon spirals using this pump as it was not to fast but powerful enough. (I did use it to inflate the occasional 5" and found it a very handy tool).
Entertainment: - During the 2 gigs no one mentioned the noise made by the pump (and I did not find it intrusive). The pump comes with a clip to go on your belt I found it a little awkward to wear and use and would definitely be uncomfortable. I preferred to use the shoulder strap when walking around but found it best used on a table. It was knocked of a table at one stage and did not seem to suffer at all.

Would I buy one yes it's not changed my life but I have found it a real asset.

Hi all got 5mins so thought I would start a new thread for the 24th.

The venue is //http://www.waterpoet.co.uk/ we have the use of the barn out the back it is a little larger than the previous venue but yet again right near Spitalfields market.
So far the following peaple have put it in there diary are
Me,
Graham
Nippy

Danny feels going abroad to appear in a film is more important (how he can think this I don't know).

can you let me know if you are interested as I have told them that last time we had 15 and if only 3 turn up this time (and I haven't let them know)  I may not get the room for free next time.

As a little enticer I have been in contact with a top twister from the USA who is coming to the UK later this year that could possibly come and jam with us if the jam is established by the time they come over.

Hope to see some of you on the 24th

Roger

Hi all Danny and I have been talking about organising a balloon jam in one of the restaurants by my stall at Spitalfields  Market in London E1. I would like to know if anyone would be interested am looking at a Tuesday evening. Just looking for interest before I go and pester the restaurant I have in mind as they are a customer and don't want to mess them about.
They have an upstairs room that dose not get used on a Tuesday very often.
Regards
Roger.

P.S I may be able to help with pumps (save you carrying them) but you would need to bring your own balloons.

Balloon Chit Chat / uses for top of Ikea lamp.
March 16, 2011, 04:13:26 PM
I was talking to Paul (Balloons & Tunes) earlier and stands came up and he said how he had thrown out a load of the lampshades recently well my jaw hit the floor. I hate throwing things away and use them for all sorts of things.

I have attached pictures of 1 that goes down a storm at boys parties so please don't throw them away come up with a way to use these things.

I put one of the floral lights underneath that change colour.
