Balloon Chit Chat / David Grist D.V.D's
February 13, 2010, 02:29:34 AM
Hi all,

There have been some great models of David's bi-plane, by Yvonne and Proff T Wist, which have prompted interest in the D.V.D. collection. I know Graham is stocking the whole set of 9, but I canot find a list of whats on what on any of his listings, so I thought it might be useful to post a list here now.

VOLUME ONE. BEGINNERS TAPE. 60mins
Basic dog, mouse, rabbit, poodle, bear, cat, parrot on a swing, swan, elephant, sword, flower, apple twist, heart flower, snake, helmet, flower hat, dino hat, crown, ball in balloon, dog with meatball, ball race, casper ghost, pink panther, and motor bike

VOLUME TWO. FANCIER STUFF. 60mins
Slightly more complicated multi balloon sculptures. I had a bit of trouble at first with the sheep, but it is well worth it with the popularity of Shaun the Sheep. The models are duck, crab, boquet of flowers, frog, parrot on stand, alien, sheep, cartoon dog.

VOLUME THREE. WEAVING. 60mins
David's explanations of this tequnique are so clear and easy to follow, I defy anyone not to understand them !!!!! The models are basket and fruit, birthday cake, top-hat, rabbit in hat, jack-in-a-box, and a large motor bike (in this David shows the making of the component pieces. There is then a short piece as David shows pictures of, and talks about a huge galleon, a fashion show, raceing car, vintage car, bi-plane, giant jack-in-a-box, christmas tree, walk around car, and a giant carousel.

VOLUME FOUR. INTRODUCING THE RASIN TWIST. 60mins
This, as the title suggests, shows how to use this tequnique, and there are some really cute models. They are fish and rod, skeleton, pooh, piglett, eyore, smiley flower, Mrs Happy, cow, spider.

VOLUME FIVE. CARTOON CHARACTERS. 60mins
There is a nice collection of easily recognisable characters here. Some of the names have been changed to protect the innocent, but we know who they are!. Canary on a swing, cat and bird, tigger, road runner, Mr & Mrs Mouse (Disney are very hot on copywrite) There is also a section on putting the character heads on hats.

VOLUME SIX. ALL SORTS OF USEFUL FIGURES. 90mins.
Base ball cap, dolphin, rabbit in hat (smaller non-woven), motor bike, cartoon head, fancier head, and body, Bob, who builds things!, and a bride & groom.

VOLUME SEVEN. CHRISTMAS SPECIAL. 75mins.
Some great set designs here, many of which could be used a window displays, or sold to shopping centres. Christmas star, Wreath with candle, snowman, Santa, sleigh, and Rudolp, and a woven christmas tree with decorations.

VOLUME EIGHT. 85mins
Most of the figures are relatively simple, for line work, or restaurants. The tape finishes with a fancy Sponge Bob, hobby horse, and fish in a bowl. The figures are simple frog, snoopy dog, goldfish, umberella, monkey up a tree, another monkey, tweety bird, Sponge Bob, hobby horse, and fish in a bowl, which needs access to a stuffing machine.

VOLUME NINE. THE BIG STUFF. 98mins.
This is for medium to advanced twisters, and you need to know about weaving for this stuff. As the weaving process is a bit repetative, you are shown the woven parts, and how to put them together. The models are bi-plane, racing car, vintage car, and motorcycle.

I do not have all of these DVD's but I hope what information I have found out is of use. I am sure Graham will be able to help you out with any questions.

Anyway, as Zebadee said "time for bed" as it's a busy day tomorrow, twisting some commissions for Valentines Day.

Hi all you lovely people.

I am writing this at silly hours, so please excuse any spilling mistooks as I introduce myself !

I was a magician and balloon modeller, for a long while, but took a break for a little while, and moved away from London to a more relayed style of life at the seaside, but just recently the balloon side of life has resurected itself, starting as a few things for friends, but escallating now into proper comissions, hence my name Phoenix, starting over again with a new life.

I would like to take this opportunity to say thank you to Graham and Lyn for being such good friends, and to all those on the forum who have shared their creations, and enabled me to create a bit of a portfolio, photos to follow, where I will credit those whose creativity has helped me become known as a bit better than a "flower and sword merchant"

Wishing you good people  all the very best, and I hope to be a usefull contributor to this great forum. I will send my photos to Graham to post.

With kind regards,

Kevin
