Picture Gallery / Re: Evolution of a Bride and Groom
January 30, 2016, 02:14:44 AM
I knew what they would be wearing, and their hair colour, so started like this, experimenting with different arm positions and sizes.

I decided 160s would be too skinny, and the braided base was tricky to stand the couple on, but had a start. I also found the flower on the arch was getting in the way.

Picture Gallery / Evolution of a Bride and Groom

Most of the Bride and Groom sculptures I make are pretty static looking, just side by side, but for one I am doing later in the year I wanted to do something a bit different to that.

1. The couple are quite young, and she will be in a short dress, so I wanted to do a less formal setting.

2. I wanted to have rounds and draw on faces, rather than lootle style heads

3. I have always liked how Thelma uses feathers and fabric in her sculptures, so I wanted to try that idea

As I am not doing much now, I thought I would run through some ideas, which I have been doing during the week.

I have enjoyed seeing how Graham's designs evolve, so thought I would take photos as I went along, and post them here.

This is how the couple ended up .......

A nice idea if the sculptures are smaller, is to make a simple display of the couple

That is a lovely little fox, and I like the colour change to make it a wolf, although it could double as a German Shepherd  :D

I made this fox ages ago....I can't remember what for, but looking at it again it could double as a corgi dog  :D

Hi Trevor,

Very nice Bride and groom, and what a coincidence, I have been making a bride and groom today, trying out a new (for me) style, I will photograph them tomorrow and post a pic.

I do like your "happy couple" and the faces look great  :D  I would say though, the bride does seem to have a bit of a high forehead. There is a link here hair-t9270.html?hilit=princess
which gives some ideas for hair styles.

Here are some Brides and grooms I have made, with various different dress designs.

Picture Gallery / New Popeye Vs Old Popeye
January 03, 2016, 11:31:02 AM
I am updating my portfolio at the moment, and making new versions of various balloons I like, and have just re-made Popeye.

The first was a design from the Italian balloon book, which I made probably about 6 yrs ago. The second I made yesterday, and was particularly pleased with the way the lower jaw turned out.

Hope you like it  :D

Rob is not only an awesome twister, but a fantastic photographer, so I tried to make this last photo of mine a bit more creative.

It is a friends birthday today. He is a great Dr Who fan, and often likens his flat to the Tardis due to the amount of junk in it, so I made the tardis for him.

I seem to remember Rob made a tardis, and photo shopped it flying through space. Rather than photo my tardis just standing there, this was the route I went for. Not knowing anything about photoshop, I pinned a black sheet to my bedroom wall, and hung the balloon in front of it .....well space is black !

I then made three loops of clear 160s to make a kind of wormhole thing, and sellotaped them to the sheet, and got the photo. It needed a bit of adjustment, so I took the brightness down to make the background sheet more even, and brought the contrast up to bring out the tardis.

It still needed a bit more, so I used "paint" on my laptop to add the stars, and then Hey Presto....this is how it came out.

Thank you Rob for your inspiration  :D  :D
