Balloon Chit Chat / jumbos and arches
April 12, 2013, 04:46:50 PM
My son's run Karate Clubs they put on a weeks course for the Easter Holiday. I agreed to make some balloons for their presentation. I asked Nippy how easy the jumbos were transport, with this info I decided to pre make and dismantle for travel plus was having the first go at a balloon arch.  loaded my van in morning with the broken down jumbo and over a hundred inflated balloons for my arch fantastic.  As i pulled off my drive the spring on the front suspension snapped went through the tyre  and it couldn't be move. now to re load in my Audi A6. I now know you can stuff a 3ft round in a car two trips later assembled in record time  as it was my first time. I need to put some more practice in to building arches, but it put a lot of smiles on faces when the class turned up.

Balloon Chit Chat / new tv show
March 13, 2013, 06:01:28 PM
Just had a telephone call for a new tv show similar to come dine with me, but to find the best children's entertainer. Three entertainers will be on each show seeing each other acts live at parties and voting at the end. didn't fit in with my time schedule in April. but on reflection this could make you or break you, is their such a thing as bad publicity.  has anyone taken up the offer?

Balloon Chit Chat / Large monkey
July 21, 2012, 10:25:57 PM
Needed a large monkey for a christening tomorrow. Converted the monkey mask head to fit on a 646 body. And more by luck then judgment stands up on his own thought I share

dont no if anyone is interested got this email from ukmagic today

Dear all

Please excuse the plug. But, given that I've virtually retired from balloon modelling now, I have decided to list my Majiloon Contractor - the "bees knees" of rechargeable balloon modeller's pumps - on Ebay. It's a bargain for the serious balloon worker. Take a look.

Balloon Chit Chat / nightmare turned to sweet dreams
March 04, 2012, 12:09:19 AM
tough job to day booked for a 2 hour magic balloons music and games for a one year old was informed mix ages.

it turned out the parents ran their own  events and promotion company. when we arrived  we were taken in to a small 80 seat theatre  with 4ft by 18 ft area for music and games.
so all set up the children arrived age range 11 to 18     and more adults then children plus a 1 year old.

the mum then changed our running order and asked to go with the magic show first and could we do a 1 hour magic show rather then the planned 45 mins,  so with 3 video cameras and professional photographers  taking pictures from all angles.

I was amazed at the reactions i got from my audience laughter and cheers in the right places and finished the hour on a high, then to be told by mum to carry on with the magic for another 20min as food not ready.

i didn't realize my improv with balloons was that good who said slapstick has died.  i was lucky for some reason i had ready made enough  of don's balloon monkey hatz in every colour you could think of to give out at the end of the 2 hours.

the feed back from the parents were great with even a mum and young lady begging me to do her 18 birthday with all the same bits and bobs.

a nightmare turned to sweet dreams.   :D
thanks for reading and sorry to bore you with my ramblings

Balloon Chit Chat / mini mac light
February 18, 2012, 11:56:39 PM
mini mac light

is it me, when i start using the mac it doesn't pump up the 260's  in one, but after pumping up several balloons it inflates all the way. is this normal or do think the rubber ring needs replacing? cant remember if it was the same when it was new.

any thoughts mini mac owners

cheers

Balloon Chit Chat / How things change
February 07, 2012, 01:39:44 PM
I was sorting out bits and pieces when i come across my old bum bag that i used when doing walk round twisting. How on earth did i get all my balloons in that?  But seventeen years ago all i  carried was the ten basic 260 colours with a mix of 350 and 160 a few bee's, heart's and rounds. I certainly was full of enough hot air ;)

Back then i thought i was the dogs danglies   had seen Michael Decker then Bob Wooding and David Grist.  i thought i could make everything with a  5 balloon bike being a winner.
I think i got caught in a time warp i didn't change with balloons only being a bit part in my act.

Then over the past couple of year i started looking at twisting on the net. WOW blown away this is now an art form.

New balloons and DVDs were in order i now walk round with a twisting apron filed with over  1000 260's in at least 20 colours, 300+ mix 160's, 200+ 350's, 150 646's, 150+ hearts , 100 bees, 321, geo's, donuts, round in all sizes,  faces, spots, stars, nearly passed out with the price for a bag of mix superAgate  and floor pump  and stock that takes up way to much room.

i certainly don't know it all and never will, always learning, with so many people taking it to another level.  I have now started attending the care and share days with all levels of abilities but most of all nice friendly people.

It's good to be a twister
