Events. Balloon, Magic, Etc / Care & Share Day Party
March 19, 2010, 03:58:20 PM
So after having to postpone the Levet & Lee day and as I'm a sucker for punishment I've decided to run a party day either in September or June. The problem with September is that there is also two magic conventions so people may be pre occupied with booking time off for these instead of the balloon day.
So I have now made an instant decision, it will be in June, will check for dates asap. Looking to only charge £5 to attend which will cover a buffet lunch and we will hold it back in Birmingham again as this hopefully is more cental to everyone. The theme for the day will be "Celebrating the Art Of Balloon Modelling"
I hope as many as possible can make it, I'm off to work out the best date for this.

Balloon Chit Chat / New Pump Arrived
March 19, 2010, 03:38:31 PM
I ordered a new pump from McPump, I think it's the mini mac light but will check. First thoughts are it's taller than Mr Filbert so may be better for me as I'm on the tall side, a lot heavier and sturdy and the strap is a bonus for when getting about with it.
Will take a picture later and post

I thought I would try and plug a few CD's for people while giving other members and lurkers a look at each persons style. Hoping to add one sculpture a week from a CD/pdf files as long as everyone is happy with this?
So the first one one up is from Bonnie's "Sitters" collection which has 12 designs on and costs $15 if emailed out which is just 81p a design. Bonnie has numerous CD's available and the full collection can be seen here; http://www.balloonjam.com/bonnie/ Please support her if you can.

As soon as I had seen this design I made it and have posted it once already on the forum but it just has that quality that I like, it's possibly the look of the eyes that sells this one to me.

While looking for the picture I've come across this thread; http://www.balloonjam.com/bonnie/
So will go back to plan B and look at another one of Bonnie's CD's to plug for her.

Andrew has kindly agreed to do the interview next week March 22nd on the forum, so please fire away any questions you may have for him. He has a very good CD out that I purchased at twist & shout last year with a lot of usable models on it for the real world situation.
Andrew's website is; http://www.macpump.org/

It's surprising the amount of fantastic sculptures, topics, interviews that are on here when you go back over the site. I'm expecting lot's will have been missed the first time around, a big thanks to all those that post and make the forum what it is  :D  and how about those lurkers joining up and joining in. Go on, the more the merrier as we are all a fairly friendly bunch :D  :D

Picture Gallery / The Classic's of Magic

Some pictures from my balloon magic act, more details and pictures are here; http://www.magicact.co.uk/

This was a showcase for booking agents in Torquay, Devon, UK and a funny thing happened after the show, yes it did. I met Mark Byrne's Dad's best friend and we spent a while talking about Mark  :D   ;)
What are the chances of that?

I was making th egg for the ABC game and Dennis beat (He He) me to posting with his Elvis. So I thought I'd post it anyway even though it looks more like a space ship  :)
Then I thought it may look nice in the cd base that Thelma makes.

Picture Gallery / Elephant head to Man
March 07, 2010, 08:05:38 PM
I was rather taken by the look and shape of the elephant that Thelma posted on the tagged game and was looking to make the shape possibly without double stuffing the balloon, well I didn't have much luck but one of the efforts looked like a face to me so changed it to this.
The second picture looks rather like an old vauldaville comic who used to perform magic with a very high forehead who used to add on a toupee piece to make his forehead even more pencil shape and who's name escapes me at the moment.

Sabina is having a balloon exhibition in her home town this week, they normally have painted art but have moved out of their comfort zone with Sabina.
Some of her work is in pictures with a few sculptures around the venue as well.
It goes on all week and I'm hoping Sabina will do a little write up after the event when she has calmed down from all the excitement  :)
