Off Topic.......... plus Hidden Talents / A nice day out
September 15, 2009, 06:58:20 PM
Lyn and I are celebrating our wedding anniversary tomorrow and with other activities sorted out for tomorrow decided to go up London today, so first thing I have to get to the chinese embassy for my visa at the end of the month. Last time I went we had to queue up for hours, standing all the time as there were no seats. We were treated a bit like cattle, standing around the block and it took hours so I was expecting the same this time. Well it was a nice surprise as they have moved where you need to apply for the visa and have gone all high tec. A lovely room with seating and over 12 windows to use and you had to book a time online to be seen and then there was a ticketing system when there. It only took 20 mins although you have to wait 3 days for the visa.
We then met Danny from the forum for coffee and a chat which is always nice to see him and then went off to Leicester Square to buy some cheap tickets for a show, as the rain was lashing down we decided to go to the afternoon matinee. Had lunch at a very nice little Italian restuarant that was not a big chain and had a lovely theatre luch special and then saw Phantom of the Opera which is a reallly nice show and we both enjoyed it.
So there is my nice day out, just thought I'd share.

Picture Gallery / Patricia Bunnell Mouse (Rat)
September 15, 2009, 06:29:07 PM
Patricia has asked me to post this famous mouse for her onto the forum  :)

Step 1. Make a basic hat base using a grey 260. Set aside.

Step 2. Inflate a grey 260 about half way. Make a "bird body" or a 3
bubble roll through. Start by making 2 bubbles about 7.5 cm long.
Twist together and roll the knot through to prevent it from
untwisting. Make the next bubble a little shorter than the first 2 and
roll it through the other 2. Discard the remaining balloon. This
becomes his muzzle.

Step 3. Attach the muzzle to the hat base. Set aside.

Balloon Chit Chat / Please help
September 14, 2009, 10:00:46 AM
The forum is only as good as the members that post on it and we seem to be going through a lull at the moment even though we have the best Google ranking since the forum was set up. It seems that the more popular the forum is the least posts are put up.
So we are trying to encourage everyone to post a little and share there experiences etc, it's all about give and take as if there are too many people that just keep taking all the time then those that give generally give less and then there is less to take, so please try and join in on the forum with suggestions, ideas, pictures, problems you may be having with making a sculpture as there are plenty on here that are only to happy to help out.
You can also advertise for free on the forum at the moment and if anyone has any balloon related news then I'm always looking for something new to freshen up the news page and more than happy to give you and an event a plug, new DVD etc etc so any news please pass it on.
If you see any balloon related items on youtube or anywhere else on the internet please either post it on the forum or send me the link as everything helps to keep the forum ticking over and people coming back to see what else has been posted.
We still have hundreds that look at the forum and use the site but have never posted so please stop lurking and join in with your balloon community, we are all pretty friendly, honest.

This sounds like a sad plea for help but I'm very passionate about our art and looking to take it forward in the best way that we can so that it gets the recognition that it so rightly deserves and with your help I think we can do this and all benefit from the knock on effects.

I'm never too sure if we should put easier or harder challenges on for the model of the month but looking back not that many seem to attempt them so for this month I'm putting an easier model on that I think is very usable. If you do have a go then please post your efforts as it might encourage others to have a go as well  :)  Thanks.

Balloon Chit Chat / Six foot Climb inside balloon
September 04, 2009, 09:30:26 PM
We now have in stock the six foot step/climb inside balloons.
This is the large six foot balloon for getting into. It comes in six various colours, blue, yellow, red, green, white, and orange. Stock does vary and we are unable to guarantee what colours will be sent out. We do not suggest you use these balloons for climbing into and you do so at your own risk as Graham Lee, Balloon Art Wholesale and Sempertex balloons do not recommend that you do try and climb into them. But if anyone is daft enough to try at your own risk as it can be dangerous then here is the link to buy them;

Balloon Chit Chat / Looking for a website
September 03, 2009, 03:35:00 PM
l'm looking for a website that I found a while back that was based in Germany I think and had balloon related toys and games on with covers for the big six foot balloons and possibly the parachute game. There were some good balloon related games on the site.
I've spent the last hour goggling various options with no luck as yet so was wondering if anyone else may have hit the site,
fingers crossed.

Another Levett & Lee roadshow is planed for Wed 21st Oct In Banstead, Surrey and will cover everything you wanted to know about balloon modelling but were afraid to ask. From all the twists and what to use them for onto quick easy and impressive models and then the fun easy to make walk around helicopter which has definately been a hit at every event that it's been made at. Plenty for everyone, with some lovely positive comments made to us by those that attended the first day back in July in Birmingham.
The cost for the day is a bargain £10, booking details; http://sempertexballoons.co.uk/index.ph ... &parent=12
