The Darlington day was going to be on the 8th July but I had a job in the diary already for the evening in London so we are planning on moving to the 1st July, fingers crossed this is still OK for everyone.
For some reason last year we had trouble filling the date and it was very nearly cancelled so could I ask everyone to forward details to any one that may be interested in coming along for a fun filled day with three lectures including the surprise mystery lecturer.
The day will be the usual £10 if pre-booked with a £10 voucher to spend on balloons at the day so making it another free day kindly sponsored by Sempertex Balloons.
Will be putting the booking details on the site ASAP.

We are planning on doing three dates every year which will be a full day hands on lecture/workshop all over the UK. We are open to suggestions on venue's but thought that Banstead, Birmingham and Leeds would spread things around.
We will start off this year with a basic day explaining all the twists and what they can be used for with hints and tips thrown in throughout the day so hopefully giving everyone a good basic knowledge to help everyone progress in this amazing twisted world of ours  :D
Then next year we will run the intermediate day with three dates and then finally the advanced day the following year.
Any ideas and thoughts on where to have the days and what to include are all greatly appreciated and we are planning on having the first day in Birmingham on Wed 22nd July but this can be flexible if others have any better ideas.

Just got back from a very enjoyable evening watching the eight acts compete for the title, all were very good and it was an excellent two hours. It's the busiest I've ever seen the magic circle, completely full with no seats left.
Pete Wardell won with his cups and balls and coin work, he was very funny with some lovely gags and good timing.

It's a name I'm guessing not many will have heard off but he has been working at Disney for years and as we say in the business is a good old pro :D
I'm sure you'll get a lot of info if you google him  ;)

Balloon Chit Chat / Trying to make another dress
May 07, 2009, 10:26:49 AM
Woke up this morning and had the urge to make a dress, did a rough design and away I went.
Have already changed the design three times from what I originally thought.
The black balloons have a pinch twist in to try and keep the front of the dress flat.
The 2nd to 6th rows at the back from the waist down are approx a finger length longer to try and add shape for the curvacious bottom to fit comfortable into and the black 160 at the front I thought would be diamond shape but I like the look of running it into and out of the centre all the way down. It started without a twist in this bubble but at the centre where they meet it looked nice with and had to have a twist so have kept it in to see what the overall look will be when it's finished.
This has taken an hour at the moment to do, will try and post some more pictures after I do another hour of twisting.
I've been kneeling on the floor and turning the manaquein around but I'll have to put it on a table as my OLD knees hurt.

Just to give a little plug to a new dvd that will hopefully be out by the middle of May, fingers crossed. It is being edited at the moment and then we need to get them printed off.
It is for the more advanced twister and has some really great stuff on it even though I say so myself
Thelma Levett makes a special apperance for about 15 minutes with a great design that is quickish and very usable in the real world. The dvd is worth getting just for the big intro I attempt to give Thelma  well we thought it was funny and we even put in all the out takes and bloopers at the end of the dvd for your amusement as well.

Off to the Scottish magic convention tomorrow with my old friend Pearse, we are going up on the train for a hopefully relaxing and care free journey with luck :D
Will be doing a lecture and my balloon/magic act in the gala show with Pearse doing his award winning comedy juggling act which in my opinion is the best in the country.
Really looking forward to it and have been doing a fair bit of rehearsing all week as well, just in case.
So if anyone is near Montrose and fancys a nice relaxing magic weekend I'm sure they'd like to see you. More details can be found here; http://www.scottishassociationofmagicalsocieties.co.uk/

Picture Gallery / "A Little Bit More" by Miss Levett

I have just got Thelma's new CD and after rehearsing today decided to have a go at one of the models. The CD I'm guessing is to take people up to the next level with there balloon modelling but with the clear and easy to follow instructions this is easily achievable.

I have slightly altered the model from the CD with a few extra pinchtwists and trying to get a paw effect on the bottom of the feet.

You can either buy the instructions on a CD via the website; http://sempertexballoons.co.uk/index.ph ... ent=9&pg=1
or Thelma can email you over the instructions directly; http://www.balloonjam.com/thelma/
or you can just send her a PM from the forum.
