http://www.interiordesign.net/article/C ... ml?q=niels

not sure when this was done but in Jan last year I had a meeting with a young designer to do something very similar.
From memory I think his name was Charlie Swan, just off to google it, I may return with some more info :D

Edit; Got the name right but wrong year, it was two years ago in 2007. Nothing came up on google though

Since The Millennium Jam in November I've been in discussion with Don Caldwell, http://acmeballoon.com/html/don_index.htm
to see if we can get him over to the UK to do the "David Grist Memorial lecture" for 2009 & this looks likely to happen in the first week of June.

Again depending on numbers we will do either one day in Birmingham or a day in the south & a day up north.
No fixed price has been sorted out as yet but at a guesstimate the day will cost approx £40 with Don doing a full day hands on lecture workshop. The day will run form 10 till 6 with Don lecturing 10.30 till 1.oo & 2.oo till 5.oo.
We will sort out all the details when over at twist & shout in early Feb.
So it would be nice to get an idea of those that would like to attend Don's lecture as I need to decide on one lecture or two.

Will be holding some performance workshop day's next year. Depending on demand we will either do just one in Birmingham or one in the south & one up north but these days are dependent on numbers as they are not a sponsored event & there will be a small charge of £20 to attend the day with a minumum of 10 people at each day.
Danny Schlesinger http://www.circoridiculoso.co.uk/ who I personally rate very highly will be running the days & I'll be there to pick up a few tips as well.

Datails about this day are;

The Idiot Inside - and letting them out, for Balloon Artists

Danny Schlesinger will be teaching his workshop on The Idiot Inside and letting them out. He has taught this workshop for corporate clients, teachers, performers and balloon artists. It is an interactive, physical and participatory experience that will benefit both newcomers to performing and the more experienced who wish to learn something new and usable.

Danny will be looking at four main areas;
Comfort & Confidence
Play
Being Ridiculous

How to apply this to balloon modelling? How do you perform and balloon model?

The day will be a series of games, exercises and fun.

A thank you letter from the party held in Birmingham in November where Danny was a mystery instructor.

"I would like to thank you for your help at the last balloon day. Your "exercise" has left a profound mark. Before it I felt I had lost most of my confidence, well I thought I had. Now I have realised I can work on the why's and fix them. So once again thank you from the bottom of my heart - you have inspired me to make changes that were probably a long time coming and will help a lot in the future. "

Sharon (Lollypop)

We are looking to hold the first workshop in March, comments & thoughts about this are welcome :D

Balloon Chit Chat / Breaking News, Sempertex Balloons.
December 19, 2008, 10:28:41 PM
As I'm sure a lot of you know that for the last three years I've been going around the UK promoting Sempertex balloons who have sponsored the care & share days for me with mystery lecturers & even getting Sabina Kellner & Ralph Dewey to come over for the "David Grist Memorial Lecture"
This has been a lot of fun, one that Lyn & I have thoroughly enjoyed.

With all the work involved with organising the balloon days, promoting Sempertex balloons, my entertaining work etc + the forum, wow I can't believe myself that it's only nine months ago that we decided to try & put the forum online, to say I'm chuffed about it would be an understatement :D Sometimes things just surprise you.

We get some great ideas & listen to everyone about how we can improve things, we are always open to suggestions so please get in touch with any ideas you may have for the future.
It seems like we're on a very steep learning curve at the moment & enjoying it enormously.

Some days were so busy that we have trouble finding time to play with the balloons :(

So what to do.............. I've been in discussions with getting others on board to help promote the Sempertex brand & I'm very pleased (absolutely delighted to be honest) that everything has been sorted & agreed.
We will be making an announcement in the new year on what I'm hoping will be a very successful partnership between myself, Sempertex Balloons and ?
So as they say...watch this space ;)

Wishing everyone a very peaceful & loving christmas & new year.
Try & take a few moments at this busy time of year (hopefully for us childrens entertainers)
to reflect on the important things in life, whatever they may be for you.
As my gran used to say, take your time & smell the flowers on the way.

Love & kisses to you all :D

Balloon Chit Chat / Home news page
December 12, 2008, 12:28:43 PM
Have just updated the front news page & would like to try & add things every week if possible. So if you know of something going on in the balloon world or you may be doing a special show that you need to plug then please let us know so that we can keep the site fresh & updated.
Having a mini jam, decorating classes, been in the news/papers. Fancy shouting about it or perhaps you've had your website revamped, we may give it a plug.
Brought out a dvd/cd? we could do a review on the news page.

So just about anything, your help is required to keep the site looking fresh.

At the Birmingham party day when I handed out the prizes at the awards ceremony etc did you take a picture?
Would be nice to get some if possible :)

I'm feeling a bit chuffed with myself as it may only be a small step for mankind but an amazing technology step for me.

The new part of the news page about twist & shout was all put on the site by myself with a couple of phone calls to my web designer so I thought I'd just share this momentous occassion with you all :D
Now we need to start on the advertising page :o
