I'm very pleased to announce that Patty Sorell has agreed to answer the questions on balloon chat.
We are just sorting out the best time as she is very busy at the moment with the organisation and putting together of her own balloon convention in America; Twist & Shout.
More details can be found here about the event;
http://www.balloonconvention.com

and this weekend she is off to help out at Balloon Manor; http://www.balloonmanor.com

I'll be able to go next year for the first time to "Twist & Shout" as the dates have been changed, this was always on the same weekend as the Blackpool magic convention which is the biggest magic convention in the world, so I always needed to be there but now the date change & flying is not so much of a worry for me :o
I purchased from one of the first Millennium jam's that I went to Patty & Royal's balloon engineering DVD's, I'm sure Patty will plug these when answering the questions.

Patty will answer the usual questions but please ask away with anything else to do with organising one of the biggest twisting conventions in the world.

Balloon Chit Chat / Framed Photo
October 09, 2008, 11:04:49 AM
Betallic in America who are the sister company with Sempertex used one of my designs that I entered for The Millennium Jam last year on there website & in the valentine edition of there brochure. Well this morning I received a goody parcel from America from them with a few samples etc + a framed picture of the page that my design appeared on from the brochure.
It was a nice gesture & surprise.
The design that's mine is the heart with uninflated roses in the centre of the page.
If you fancy having a nose at there website http://www.betallic.com
I think you need to register before you can get onto the design pages.

Balloon Chit Chat / "Just" Another day at the office
October 05, 2008, 07:39:00 PM
I was entertaining for the local beaver/scouts today at there big yearly get together, had 230 little darlings to entertain.
I have been doing this for as many years as I can remember, I'm like a bit of the furniture there.
So we do a 45 min magic show that went very nicely with a couple of cracking helpers who just made the routines that bit extra special, if only we could choose the right helpers all the time :)
After the show they have 30 mins before I do a game show, as I'm getting ready for the second half I get talking to a helper & young lad called Sam who I'm guessing is 5/6 yrs old as I'd just brought in the star prize which was the monkey on a tree that I posted earlier in the week on here.

I was explaining that he could win it by taking part in the games in a few minutes, wow did his eyes light up ;)  but there were a few others that would also be doing there best to win the prize, trying to bring him back down as what are the chances of him winning this..at a guess I'd say 230/1
We started off & each game has people eliminated, with the winner going through to the play off final, so who ends up being in the final, yes it's Sam  with another beaver & two adult helpers. The final is handicapped to take into account the varying ages etc to try & make it as fair as possible, well today there was no need to stagger it as the two young beavers won by miles, it was like a one horse race.
The first two past the post both win a prize with Callum coming second & getting the ride in horse & Sam, yes Sam who's eye's lit up at the beginning when we were discussing how to win the star prize being the overall winner, well when he realised he had won & that he had won the star prize....to say his face lit up would be an understatement, he was so chuffed. Hopefully he will remember the magic & gameshow inyears to come, but one thing I know is that todays experience is in the memory banks for ever and I will remember little Sam.
Andthen to cap it all I get paid, what more could you want :D

Balloon Chit Chat / Brainstorming at Home
September 30, 2008, 01:11:35 PM
Have Thelma down with me for a few days & we were making things from hearts last night, will post our efforts later.
Today we are attempting to make a dress, struggling at the moment with the bust shape, damm tricky them busts
Will put some pictures up later. It seems that weve overcome the problem that the forum had for the past few days with no one being able to post pictures. We had to increase the size of the forum attachments from 50mb to 100mb?

They have some great acts on as well from all over the world so it may well be worth a visit.
