Balloon Chit Chat / Re: School Workshop

Yes I think 40 mins would give you time to explain a few other things about balloon modelling, not more models but some tips and hints. So on the hour every hour would be good so that you get a 20 min break to get a coffee and relax a little. We did four straight sessions and never got a break till 12.30 for lunch and then two double sessions in the afternoon.
The balloons would still all have to be pre-inflated though, forgot to mention that the 1000 balloons took Lyn and I around 4hrs 30 mins to inflate the day before and we still had to blow up at least another 250 on the day.

The plan was to have 9 sessions with each individual class but the 20/25 mins was just not long enough to make the sausage dog and flower so we did three single sessions with 30 children and then 3 double sessions with 60 children. The double ones were a bit on the noisy side but everyone seemed to enjoy the day and it was nice to see 2/3 from each session taking to the balloons like ducks to water. The school were kind to let me take a few pictures and I suggested the whole school came back in at the end of the day for a group picture which was just great  :D
Yes I know I only showed them the four petal windmill flower which is not my favourite but the children were only 8 to 11 yr olds.

Could do with a few more booking for this day as we only have five at the moment, it may end up all round my house for a twisting session.
Here are the booking details, it's only £10 to come along just so that we cover the hall costs and some petrol, http://www.balloonartwholesale.co.uk/catal ... -23-1.html

Hi Helen, well congratulations on the balloon model and also it being your first picture post.
There are a few topics on Buzz if you hit the search button, here are a couple but there are plenty more;

I'm not a member so not able to comment but would give a heads up that Ken is doing a big tour around the USA at the moment and putting a few video clips on BalloonHQ.
His last leg of the tour is Europe and the UK.

Wow what an experience the day has been, really enjoyed it. It was hard work though and we did have to double up some of the classes due to not having enough time,
will explain later but need to have a soak in the bath and rest my aching limbs, must be old age creeping up on me  :D

It took a lot longer, this is half of them. My daughter came over and took one lot away as there is no way they all would have fitted in my car/van.

Well I still have another 90 to do but I have been having a break now and again, so far the guesses are a bit off.

Welcome Helen and thanks for the little bit of history about yourself, it's always nice to know how people got hooked on twisting.

Competitions / Re: Balloon Snap...New Balloon Game!!

This is my effort, apologies it may not look the same but I think my screan displays the models differently for some reason  ;)
I like the idea of not having to use the body balloon for the back of the dogs head, it gives you more balloon to play with so a good idea Dan.
I just used the excess from the eyes to use as paws or stand depending what you see.

Balloon Chit Chat / School Workshop
September 28, 2011, 09:02:30 AM
I'm doing a school workshop tomorrow, I have nine classes for 20 mins each. The plan is I will make two nice models and then the children will attempt to make a sausage dog and flower and the best ones win the models I make.
Just off to blow up 1000 260's so that we can keep the day moving along, I wonder how long that will take.
So if you fancy guessing away I will keep an eye on how long this will take.

Yes I think a lot of hard work goes into sorting a review out on the forum, so thanks Darren.
Have you noticed how I have not sent him one of my DVD's to review........well just in case!
