After attending Sabina's lecture on Wednesday and seeing her Rabbit that we all learnt adapted to be a Beaver on the day, there must be a pic on someones camera, I thought of what it could be adapted too.
I made a rabbit last evening and this afternoon had the pleasure of sitting and watching , in my humble opinion, one of the greatest bike races the Tour de France and whilst doing so played about with some balloon ideas and cam e up with this squirrel

Balloon Chit Chat / Biggest so far
June 21, 2008, 06:05:15 PM
Last weekend the village where my in-laws live had its annual fete. They have a Scarecrow competition and various stalls run by local clubs and associations and cream teas in the church. Also the army were there with tanks and an assault course and then there was a tug of war comp near the end of the day.
Earlier on in the year when asked if I could make a scarecrow from balloons I said yes  :o
So the time came and I had to enter, I was asked if I wanted to make balloons at the fete, again I said yes.
Well the weather was kind and on Friday night I made my figure, the theme was sports people as it is Olympic year.
In the morning we put up a gazebo on the village green, a place for the family to sit in and me to work from.
I was busy from the word go, I couldn't believe it. I stopped for about two minutes to eat a hot dog after an hour ish then back on the twisting, a couple of hours or so in and I got my eldest daughter to stand at the back of the queue and say I was having a break.
That lasted about 10 minutes, I had a couple of sandwiches and a gulp or two of a drink, meanwhile we were still being asked if I could make stuff.
I carried on and eventually the queue diminished, as did everything, they took the stuff down around me.
Swords were very popular, surprise surprise  :) , cats and flowers were next, it was mainly simple stuff although I was asked for spiderman which I managed to do (many thanks Dave for your design  :D ) a golf club and a machine gun were other slightly different ones. I started to get some banter and jokes going as well so I managed to do some 'entertaining' an area where I need lots of practice.
The day went very well, I made enough to cover all my costs including the insurance (for year) and it made my mind up to have a real go at doing balloons as more than just a fun hobby. We all enjoyed ourselves and had a good day and the family are all behind this project. There were many very positive comments and several enquiries as to whether I was available for other events  :D The organiser said at the end of the day "You will come back next year wont you". Had to say yes to that didn't I  :D  :D
I have to say it was busy but superb fun.
My scarecrow was the Olympic Torch Bearer, many thanks to Ken Stillman and his superhero team 2 for the basis of my figure.
Also thanks to all on here who are ready and willing with advice and ideas.

I have a pic of my figure just after I had built him, one of him around the middle of the day, his side popped inthe sun so a quick rebuild was needed and one of me , I also tried to weave an olympic flag, although I wasn't that happy with it it got good comments.
Am really looking forward to doing more.

I have an opportunity to be 'performing' at a local village fete/open day. One of my friends asked whether I needed to have public liability insurance. We discussed the whys and wherefores of it and couldn't decide yes or know.
So my questions to you fine people are

Do I need to have it ?

If it is not required is it still a good thing to have ?

Where is the best place to get it ?

I should have said, at this point this is a hobby for me not a job but you never know where theses things lead.

Hi to you all, those I already know and those I am going to.

My Balloon name is Professor T Wist, I have been twisting for just over a year and really love it, mainly I have produced balloons for family and friends, I have done a session for my daughters playgroup and at their xmas fair and I am now tryingto expand my knowledge enough to be comfortable doing the parties that I am being asked about.

I did a care and share day earlier this year and it was superb, if you haven't been GO and if you have then I am sure I will see you at one as I intend to get to as many as I can work permitting.

Twist on everyone  :D
