I send someone a PM and it is stil in my outbox, why is it there? Why is it not in the sending messages box?

I want to see if I have received a PM. So I installed the option that I get an email if someone sends me a PM. But I also wanted to have a pop-up when I visit the forum that I have a PM waiting for me.
Here is the option you need to select in the User Control Panel (link at top right corner)

Hi Petra, I'm glad you made it here.
I have just written to IBS to see what they charge for a place to stay for the duration of the TMJ. I also need some transportation as my wife needs the car for going to here work. Do you know anybody in my part of the Netherlands that probably is going and is willing to give me a ride (I will be paying for it off course).
