Quote from: "Ballonim"i do not agree with you Daniel. it depends on you are good you market your self. I do a balloon job 5 day a week for a company with about 200 stores in Germany. i quite busy for the company.
You say that you have muss be busy with balloon modelling?
The experience is not important, it important to do what you do with love :D

Have a nice time from Germany

Gabriel

You can not disagree with me. I do have more experience than many balloon artists who have been doing it for twenty or thirty years (etc).

However there are many who have more experience than me. Its not something to be disagreed with.

Quote from: "Martin"Daniel,

Enough is enough! It was time to 'walk the walk' a long time ago and you have dodged it at every opportunity, but yet you still continue to make these rather fanciful posts suggesting that we can all learn from you (Buster, Jack and Patrick included no doubt  )

In balloons a picture is worth a thousand words.

Please now do as many have asked and make your best model, photograph it and post it for us all to see. You may then gain a little bit of the respect that you keep protesting you deserve.

If you are not prepared to do this then please stop littering this once valuable resource with any more fiction from Planet Daniel.

Thank you,
Martin.

I have done nothing of sorts. When I tell people off on here its because they have been rude and many comments which make it clear they haven't read my posts correctly. And it has to stop. I'm not the one being a troll.

Balloon Chit Chat / More Experience
March 06, 2012, 05:53:33 AM
I have been balloon modelling for nine years (started ten years ago but took a year out to pursue other work), however I believe I have more experience than many balloon artists who have been twisting balloons for twenty or 30 years (etc.).

Many balloon artists (possibly most) are not balloon modelling everyday or only for an hour or two daily (as many engagements only last a short time. e.g children's birthday parties). I know a lot of balloon artists only have a few balloon modelling engagements every week.

Many also stick to hire engagements (or providing their services for free when it's for charity) and don't work for donations such as busking on the streets.

Not so much nowadays but for about nine years I have been balloon modelling almost everyday for at least six hours. When not on a hire engagement I have busked with my balloons on the street and pubs (etc.). The money isn't always great but it's better than
many jobs (not balloon modelling jobs) which pay a lot less.

Please tell us your thoughts. Perhaps you have been balloon modelling for ten years (etc.) but believe you have more experience than someone who has been in the business for 20 or 30 years (etc.)?

Members of Equity can be listed on their children's entertainers directory and it's 100% free of charge. When I did a Google (etc.) search for children's entertainers or children's entertainers directory their site didn't rank well. Has anyone here had any inquiries or bookings via the directory?

I can highly recommend First Act Insurance.

As a member of Equity you would automatically be covered for up to £10 million. Plus there are  many other benefits of belonging to the UK trade union including free legal advice and inclusion on their Children's Entertainers Directory

Quote from: "Jaywickrob"As I said, these are my personal opinions, you do not have to agree with them.

I do agree that people do have the option to allow or not to allow their videos to be embedded, but as I explained, this assumes that people know what they are doing when uploading videos to YouTube. Those that have raised the issue claim to have not realised they could deny permission and are still persuing cases claiming copywrite infringement against those they consider to be offenders.
A short polite email to those that you wish to use would cost nothing and could potentially save you a lot of hassle.

QuoteThe Berne Convention

Under the Berne Convention, a copyright notice is optional on all works. The Berne Convention is an international agreement dealing with copyright matters. The convention is adhered to by all its signatories, which, at the time this was written, include some 160+ nations, including the US and the UK. Under this convention, a work is automatically copyrighted when it is created, whether or not the copyright is asserted or declared.

In other words, the moment someone creates an original artistic work, whether it is an article, blog post, music composition, picture, computer program, film, or whatever, the work is immediately regarded as having been copyrighted whether or not the author writes a copyright notice anywhere. The copyright notice is optional. Even if it's not present, the person who created the work owns the rights to the work.

So the short answer to the question is: if you see a nice piece of music, picture, computer program, video or article on a site, you can safely assume that it is copyrighted. If you feel strongly that you have to use it on your site, you will have to write to the copyright owner to ask for a license. In the event that they agree, you may have to pay royalties for the use.

It really doesn't matter to me what you do, you are ultimately responsible for your own actions, not me.

I do have copyright permission. They gave me (and everyone else) permission to include their videos on my site when they chose to allow people to use the embedded code. If they didn't own the copyright or have permission from the owner to upload the video onto Youtube and to include the embedded code then that would different, I would not have their videos on my site. I have also made this very clear. If you read my comments then you should know this.

Balloon Chit Chat / Time Machine Balloon Model
March 05, 2012, 08:12:22 PM
I have made a time machine balloon model and when I get it working I will be traveling back in time before I joined Balloon Chat. I will not join and I will be a lot happier.

Great site and thanks to Graham. But enough is enough. I am not welcome here and shall be leaving the forum

Goodbye to everyone.

You might like to know that on this topic which I started no one has yet to be rude to me.

Perhaps you'd like to be the first

What are the hats supposed to be?

' What is that hat supposed to be ' don't you mean?

The girl is clearing wearing a flower hat.

I am no longer responding to your posts as you are being rude. I have been rude at times but only when provoked.

STOP BEING A TROLL

Quote from: "Martin"I see these are the main photos on your website also Daniel.

Without wishing to seem rude do you get booked off those examples? My 6 year old daughter can twist better models.

Surely with 10 years experience you must have better?

I trust you are not saying that the balloon models are badly made but only that I must be able to make better balloon models?

I had many photos of me balloon modelling with the public but they were damaged in the flooding a few years ago. I will however get some new ones as soon as possible. I had taken a break from balloon modelling due to pursuing other work which is another reason for the few photos. In August I shall have a lot more photos with me balloon modelling in public as I shall be at a festival balloon modelling.

Thanks (unless you were being rude)

Quote from: "nippy99"And Graham has asked that you remove it from your site so please do so!

Having balloonchat linked to such rubbish sites messes up our forum search engine entries.

I have removed it.

If you don't like my site you can say so without being rude. You have been nothing but rude to me on here and I'm getting tied of it.

I would never say that about your site (even if it were rubbish which it is not) if it was rubbish.

Quote from: "Graham Lee"He did call me this morning asking my opinion of his new website and if I minded him plugging it on balloonchat. He did mention he was taking the forum part down on his site and I think he did say he would put a link up to the balloonchat, more telling me than asking. Perhaps I should have been paying attention more.

Balloon Chat provides several link banners for us to place on their site which is what I have done.

Quote from: "phoenix"I don't have a balloon forum to plug, but I do have a nice range of home made jams and chutneys  :D  :D  :D

Please don't plug your food business on Balloon Chat as this is a forum to discuss balloon modelling. Someone could get in contact with you now and make a purchase which would be unfair on Graham and other food companies who are not allowed to advertise their products on here.

I'M JOKING

I have removed my forum from http://www.balloonmodellingmadeeasy.xbuild.com and I now have a link to Balloon Chat.

Why not set up a jam and chutney forum? Just a thought.

Quote from: "Jaywickrob"Hi Daniel,

I have just had a quick look at your site and have noticed that the tutorial videos are simply embedded YouTube videos made by other people, for which I assume you have permission from the relevant parties. One can't assume that whoever originally uploaded the video to YouTube knew what they were doing in making the embed code public, there are copyright owners of videos trying to sue sites that have embedded their YouTube videos, so beware.

My personal opinion is that it is immoral to advertise your site here, which is in direct competition with balloonchat.co.uk.

I, for one, will be sticking with Graham and Balloonchat.co.uk as it is by far best resource and frequented by the most friendly and helpful people one could ever wish to meet.

Cheers
Rob

There are thousands of pirated movies and TV shows (etc.) on Youtube and many include an embedded code. I am a huge fan of drama series Prisoner: Cell Block H and would love to get the embedded code from Youtube and then add the episodes to a fan site for people to watch but that would be illegal.

The balloon modelling tutorial videos have been uploaded by the balloon artists themselves and they have chosen to allow people to get the embedded code and there for add the videos to their own site.

So I don't really get your argument. If I were to included pirated videos then yes you would be right.

And finally I will be removing the forum from my site and instead adding a link back to BalloonChat.co.uk. I have spoken to Graham and he is OK about it all. He doesn't see it as a problem. But I don't really want to have a forum as it can take up a lot of time.

Thanks for reading and enjoy Balloon Chat
