Balloon Review / Re: 123 - Alien PDF by Dylan Gelinas

Thanks Stuart for such a detailed review, a great job and It looks to be another stunning model from Dylan.

it has convinced me to look into getting a copy.....just need to find the time...

We must one day get together or try arrange a local Jam...I could do with picking the brains of some skilled artists. ;)

Thanks again for sharing. :D

Well everyone has an opinion, but I do believe everyone should charge their worth (shame it doesn't work with politicians but that's another story..) ;)

The seasoned professionals are who we / I look up to and rightly, should charge accordingly, but does that then mean that the pleasure (albeit "less seasoned") should never be felt by those that can not nor possibly never will be able to afford the caviar of this art form?

Had I not seen and tipped a free artist in a bar whilst on holiday many years ago I would never have seen / been interested in this art form... but the gentleman / Artist worked for tips!

And had I not done past work for very little (your version of small change) I would not have gained the life experience that I am gaining, not have progressed to the excitement of wanting to work with balloons more and more each day, never getting over the surprise and joy on the face of kids (and adults)..

You could almost say the "apprentice twister" (under cutting son~#@~#) paves the way for the "big boys" (for who would know or want something they have never tasted)?

So Hats off to you all and long may you work,

But each to their own..........an apprentice should earn as they learn and open the eyes of the public  :D

Thanks Kevin, :D  :D
Your timing is impeccable... just been asked if I would do some candy cups for a party and as slow as I am was wincing at the time vs cost that would be needed for a dozen or more (for me anyway) this makes it faster, simple, economical and very effective. ;)

I will, with your kind permission try the design....

Thanks for all the comments, I will take on board all you professional folk have said, hopefully get better, read up and take advice...

it was my first time, under a little pressure working on it during the boring bits throughout a wedding a wedding fayre.  (the "top strap" was simple a fast ball to keep it on at the time, ran out of time to replace it... (the shop wanted to close! lol))

The local Wedding shop where the fayre was held allowed me use one of their manikins... in the end my working on it pulled in so much custom that they are willing to allow me use it when ever I want and are willing to display the results......as well as advertise / put me in their packages..... :D

now I can practise in my own time.....still looking for any pointers from you all because if it was not for you / this site................................ ;)

Thanks again!

Went out on a limb yesterday and created a small  "mock Princess Carriage" for a wedding Fair centre piece.... took a few hours and lots of learning...  all from scratch made the whole frame.... sadly so much caught up chatting with every one.. didn't get much chance for some decent pictures.....Ah well next time....

Hi Pam,

Did a wedding Fair yesterday over 80 brides to be...  I took a risk and put together a white and pink mock Cinderella carriage discovered that "Navy" is on its way out (thankfully) and Pastel colours were most chosen for next year with a few choosing lime......  Hopefully will post a picture later of the "carriage"

Best wishes
