Picture Gallery / Lottle for my manager
September 24, 2012, 07:55:36 PM
Whilst tomorrow isn't my last day in my current role (Friday is) but its the last time I will meet with my team as a whole. This is a lottle I have made of my manager to give him at my farewell lunch. Am hoping he likes it. Having not had anytime for balloons just lately I certainly enjoyed making it!

Balloon Chit Chat / Sorry not been about much :(
September 22, 2012, 02:52:54 PM
Hi everyone. Just wanted to say I am sorry I have not been posting as much as usual. I was on holiday and then got a long awaited promotion at work. Problem is until they get someone to replace me I am working 2 jobs :( in the last 2 weeks I have had overnight trips to Edinburgh Leicester x2 Reading and Hull. I've been away more than home with no time for balloons. Good news is by the end of October it should all start to settle down fingers crossed. I still pop by the forum and have been admiring all the creativity going on but have not had the time to post much. So I thought I would just post one message and thank everyone for continuing to post some amazing designs and giving me a much needed creative fix!!!

Take care

Balloon Chit Chat / What to wear?
August 21, 2012, 05:26:59 PM
I have been asked to do some balloons at a charity event in September. This will be the first time doing any sort of event like this - I mostly do this for a hobby and the odd model for friends and family but I have my eye on a one stroke pump so agreed to do it as its also for a good cause. Now I have agreed to it there are two major questions running around my head:
1. What should I wear? Do I need a full costume or would bright quirky clothes and a balloon headband suffice?
2. What do I do to keep them entertained whilst in the line?
Any suggestions welcomed. The balloon bit I have sorted but the presence and entertainment value needs a lot of thought before the event.

Thanks in advance for your help :)

Balloon Chit Chat / Keeping balloon models fresh
August 15, 2012, 05:42:52 AM
I have been just loving the sunshine we've been having the last couple of weeks. Unfortunately my balloon models have not been so happy! I usually expect them to last 5 to 7 days comfortably but they have been drooping like flowers after a couple of days in the heat .

I have a couple of questions about the heat
What do you do to keep your models fresh?
Do you change the amount of air you inflate balloons with depending on the temperature?
I've read about keeping balloons in the fridge. Sara mentioned it in her dream store and I'ce see photos of Busters store fridges. Do balloons not pop when they come out into the heat and expand?

Sorry so many questions but still so new to this and so much to learn :)
Thanks in advance for your help. Looking forward to hearing your top tips

Take care

Today I had a request for a motorbike balloon for a birthday gift later this month. This is not one I have done before and I decided to create it from scratch rather than look for an existing design. I wasn't really sure how it would turn out and I have already decided to make some adaptions to the handle bars, seating area and add an exhaust and a few other little details but I think the basic design is there :) any suggestions welcome :)
Ignore the colours as it was a draft I just used what I had lots of in my bag. I plan to do clear (if I can get them in 160s) spokes and engine. Black wheels, seat and handle bars and red frame and mud guards.

Picture Gallery / Raphael Ninja Turtle
August 10, 2012, 07:26:35 PM
The Twins just got a copy of ninja turtles cartoon on DVD so of course they want Mum to make one. They certainly keep me on my toes. You can't really see it in the photo but he has a dark green shell on his back.

Picture Gallery / Bart Simpson
August 09, 2012, 07:39:12 PM
Don't know if I was just hot and bothered today but balloon twisting didn't really go to plan with lots of popped balloons, alot of muttering under breath and a few silent curses as well.  I did eventually manage to produce a Bart Simpson which I have done before... Hey ho... Just having an off day I guess...

Here's my Bart though :)

Picture Gallery / Donald duck
August 04, 2012, 01:27:10 PM
Inspired by Darren's (nippy99) review of Beatings balloon magic book I purchased it. Bearing in mind it came from Belgium it was here within a few days. It was definitely worth the investment. Some of the instructions were missing bits from the translation and next time I will make sure I study the photos a little more but I am pleased    with my first model - Donald Duck :)

Picture Gallery / On my backseat :)
August 01, 2012, 04:46:15 PM
Every lunchtime you can find me twisting away in my car. I don't have an office - I sell medical equipment to the NHS so the car is my office!!! Lol

I often wonder what people think as they walk past - not just when I am twisting away but later when I am working and my balloon friends guard the car until my return. Here is what my backseat looks like today :)

Picture Gallery / My first Thomas :)
July 31, 2012, 02:39:52 PM
My little nephew (now just 3) was born with lots of health problems which means lots of hospitals and blood tests which he hates. Today I promised him a Thomas for when he gets home so I made one in my lunch break. Thanks to Darren for the geo base instructions. First time I tried to fill with water and pump I shot water every where Lol.

Picture Gallery / Budding little twister :)
July 29, 2012, 08:32:13 AM
When I am twisting I normally give my twins some balloons and a pump. Archie gets bored quickly and wanders off to find some mischief but Harley always watches me intently constantly asking questions. This morning he came up to me and showed me his first dog and swan. Funny thing was as I was about to take his photo he said "wait they've got no eyes" and ran to get my sharpies.

Not bad for a 5 year old. Something tells me he's gonna cost me a fortune in balloons!!! Lol

Balloon Review / Really enjoying these reviews
July 21, 2012, 09:05:32 AM
Just wanted to say really enjoying these reviews Darren (nippy99) and CJ Nelson. DVDs cost quite a lot of money so it is amazing the time you both take to make these models and review the content for the rest of us :) Thanks a lot xxx

Edit, GL Admin. I have taken down the pictures as they came from another website. Please just put links up to them, thanks.

Hi everyone.

Hope this finds you keeping well :)  Some of you I am sure are very aware of this project but I just had to share this for people who hadn't seen this website.

//http://balloonmanor.com/what-is-balloon-manor/

Balloon Manor was the brain child of Larry Moss who promised to build a halloween manor for his wife whilst she laid in a coma.  When she came out of the coma she held him to his promise.  Then followed 4 versions of balloon manor each better than the last.  Unfortunately in 2009 the recession bit and there has not been another balloon manor but the website is well worth a look.  I have put a couple of their pictures below...

It would be amazing to visit something like this...  Maybe one day balloon chat could have its own themed event wouldn't that be amazing!!!

Picture Gallery / My first mickey mouse :)
July 16, 2012, 07:25:38 PM
Since I caught the twisting bug I have wanted to twist Mickey mouse (and Minnie too but I haven't got that far yet :) ) but obviously it takes a little time to get to this point so today I decided to give it a go.  The shoes gave me a nightmare time but I got there in the end.

Here he is my first mickey mouse!!  :D
