Balloon Tutorial & Help / Balloon acts?
June 05, 2008, 06:23:18 PM
Hi everybody,

I'm interested in developing a balloon act. where the best place to go to to find out? Don Caldwell has a balloon act - I think - so does Mike stokes. What exactly are you doing, I only know magic shows etc.

Thanks for that Smiggle. I must confess that sometimes I do almost haggle as I don't like to see the business go. With my magic show When I first started it went up & down as & when I heard the going rate. Then you just gotta go with what you feel comfortable with.

I came across some balloon buskers in my home town last week. Doing Swords & flowers charging £1.00 per model. I think thats why I asked, I don't want to overprice. I mainly do hats now. Got board of doing dogs, swords etc

Thanks again for that Smiggle

This gives me some encourigment (oo my spelling) as I'm going to start doing that now. Just branching ou. So thanks for the post.

I did this charity fete last year, I had one young urching asked for a sword, I did it, then she ran off laughing. :x  I was anoyed for the charity. So I've been wondering, do you ask for the money before or after you make the model/hat?

Hi guys,

I have been doing kids party magic & some balloon moddeling. Simple stuff. Then I got Bad to the balloon DVD's...wow. I sourt of enjoy doing balloon models more than the kids magic. So, now I'm going to start approaching the commercial sector - restaurants shopping malls etc - I recently bit the bullet & approached an owner of a restaurant/cafe type place. He is interested..wow. I suggested I go in & do a 1hr freebie, then we number crunch. :D

Then last night I got chatting to someone that I hadn't met before, works for a car dealership. I told him what I do, suggested he have me to bring famillies in, they've been thinking about that.

Problem is, I'm not sure about pricing. Can anyone give me some guidance on this ppplease :?:

I would like to get into decorating as well. Whats the best avenue for that, I meen where do I go :?:

Anyone?

I get asked to do models I can't do, as I'm sure it's the same for all of us, right? At one birthday party everthing was going pretty well, then a young lad came up & asked for an Axolotls. Oh dear take a look at this link http://images.google.co.uk/images?um=1& ... ls&spell=1

Pretty ugly..the lizard not me

Can anyone make this by the way?

What weird requests have you been asked?

Website "Chat" Help / Re: Web Hosting
June 04, 2008, 12:19:50 PM
Quote from: "YvonneH"Steve with the company you have suggested are you able to upload sites you have created yourself or are you limited to using their design software?  Also are you able to host more than one site under this hosting? Have you ever had any downtime? Have you ever had any problems of any kind?  - I am such a nosey moo I know but I am not going to jump in head first again and end up out of pocket!

Yvonneh,

Business @ £2.53/mo
Info15000 MB Data Space
Info300 GB Monthly Traffic
Info3 Domains Hosted
Info100 E-mail Accounts
Info20 FTP Accounts
Info20 MySQL DBs

No no downtime, no problems with 24/7 helpline. They have a 1 hour time limit on getting back to you, I have found that they get back to you usually before the hour is up. Yes when I first went over it took a little while to get used to there control panel, but it's a different company, right? Yes you can upload your own design, I have. As you can see, you can have 3 domains hosted. If you want to upgrade, you can add a bit at a time, or just simply go to the next one up.

I tell you what I have no complaints.

Hope this helps.

Website "Chat" Help / Re: Web Hosting

I have found a little known hosting company http://www.easylife-hosting.com I was with 1and1 found they were a rip off compared to the on I'm with now.

With easylife I get a site building software, loads of scripts that you just simply install when & if you want to. With 1and1 if you want to market your site with them they charge, with easylife I am No 1 in Google & Yahoo.

Sorry I tend to get passionate about things were I feel I find a good deal.

Hi Tom,

we live in the south of England, near London...well sort of. I must say I agree with you on life being improved.....most certainly better than France  :P

I will come over to the big meet up with other balloonistssiss    So hope we can meet.

I'm pretty new to this, so I'm a bit shy in going up to people. I think it's because I've seen really good artists, then look at myself. So I think I'm just going to have to bite the bullet & go for it. I now need to think of a name for this balloon man. I do magic & called myself magic man (I know original, but my  site in No1 on Google) balloon man? naa. too many of those.

Ooops sorry carried on too long. & no Q's.

Are you/have you coming over to UK?

The "Star" Interview / Gospel Balloons
April 11, 2008, 06:14:27 PM
Hi Ralph,

this is so exciting. I started doing Gospel clowning at a kids church we were running at the time because I found out about it through both you & another book. I've stopped that now. I have to say that your routines were really good.

Now I go round schools presenting gospel in a unique way (I won't go into it here) I saw someone do the jonah & whale story using a balloon I don't know if it was yours. But it blew me away. Now I'm interested in doing it with balloons.

Ok, ok, here's the  question. Can I get your gospel DVD's (I prefer to books) over here in UK. Also I would like to attend one of your jams (not jelly   ) how do I find out about when & where you are going to be next?
