My common questions include... (although not all of them get funny answers)...

Q, How did you learn to make balloons?
A, My wife bought me a bag of balloons and an instruction book on how to make balloon animals for Christmas... she's regretted it every since.

Q, Are they special balloons?
A, Yes, not the rubbish you buy from Tesco, in fact, take my details and give me a call, i'd be happy to supply you some.

Q, Can you make me a <insert stupid request here i.e. Eiffel Tower>?
A, Do you have a good imagination... YES, good, here's a dog now go use your imagination

Q, Can you make a lot of money making balloons?
A, Clearly not enough because I'm still doing it.

Q, My five grandchildren are at home, can you make them all something?
A, No sorry, my balloons are only for children who are here today but take my card as you can order some and I will deliver them to your house.

Some great retorts here guys, keep them coming.

When asked how I got into it I say I was head-hunted by a group of 8-year-olds.

When asked if they are special balloons I say, No- it's me that's special!

This thread reminds me of line from the Coen Bros film Raising Arizona:-

EVELLE: . . .These blow up into funny shapes at all?

CASHIER:   Well no. Unless round is funny.

do you need special training to do that?

No any 8 year old can do it with 10 years practice!

(not mine but can't remember where I first heard it)

I saw this on the internet and thought of this thread;

When making Wiener dog balloons: Use this line with a Wiener dog: "They used to call 'em dauchshunds, now they call them Nissans." Bah dum Bum chhh. Only those people about 25 or older will get this, but it always gets a few laughs for me. (Datsun is now Nissan)
Pop-a-lot!

Where did you learn to do this?
- In jail.  (It always gets giggles and a few eyebrow raises).

How did you learn to do this?

I use the "in Jail" line too....but I add that it was because I was no good at making the license plates

My mind not only wanders, sometimes it leaves completely.

Once I answered : no they're round balloons that have been stretched into that form by pulling hard. When I saw the person was quite amazed and not seeing it was a joke...well, I decided I was not sure whether I would give that answer again, because when they finally realise (there is always a traitor around   ), you don't feel really at ease, do you ?
