Just taking a break from building my balloon act for a magic club meal tomorrow night celebrating thier 25th anniversary & the nerves started for me last Saturday when I realised that we have less than a week before the show. It's funny how you think the longer you entertain the less nervous you hopefully will become but it dosn't seem to work like that for me. I think it's even more stressful for me for tomorrows show as it's in front of friends & family & it's a club I belong to as well so in front of my peers as they say.
I'm also sitting down & having a meal with everyone before the show, not sure this is right, I feel uneasy about trying to chat with people wihile thinking about the show & then performing after a big meal. The front row better move back slightly or they may be wearing my dinner :D
I sorted my week out so that on Monday I got everything together & new that I had nothing missing to perform the show, read this from Danny's post about being organised.
Then done some rehearsing on Monday & all day yesterday while making a few adjustments to the show as I'm trying a couple of variations to my normal act.
For this I needed a clip to hold something & it took me nearly three hours to make it so that it sat correcty in the right position, the things we do for our art. Hopefully it will work.
I have to say they do have a good line up for tomorrow as apart from myself they have Terry Herbert who is a very funny experienced entertainer, Scott Penrose with a beautiful dove act & Mel Mellors a really funny act that has been there done that & got the T-shirt so to speak. Well must get back to putting the act together, my stage set is built now off to build all the magic props from the balloons.

Good sh*t Graham!

Remember if they are your friends and family they like you already!!!

Breathe, don't eat too much, I would't drink until after you have performed. And breathe out.

Enjoy it!!

You wonder why you had the nerves all week after the event :)
The evening seemed a great success with a nice atmosphere all evening with a very warm & appreciative audience. Managed to get around after my spot to see Mel Mellors & have to say that I think he's great, a very funny act with a wicked sense of humour.
Might look into getting some details about how to calm your nerves, I expect someone like Paul McKenna must have something out as it just seems crazy to have all the tension build up during the week, it even got to a point where you think I'll have to stop doing this because the worry is just too much.
Then they call your name & introduce you to the audiance, you walk on & just love every minute of it, even when something goes a little amiss :D
This show business is a funny old world?

Oh, I ADORE Terry Herbert! I have his video, and I never get tired of getting it out every once in a while and watching it again. He's a master of comedy for kids.

I'll pass that on to Terry as he is a good friend, Another bit of useless info for you is that he also done his cabaret act at my daughter's wedding which went down very well & was so funny. His sausage routine is excellent & very very funny with the right volunteer

Oh, aren't the internet and forums lovely?  :D  To be able to get and give feedback in ways you never thought possible - it's wonderful.

Again, thinking of the "small world" thing, the other day Dave Hickory (from this forum) met a couple who helped him keep his tent from blowing down. He made a parrot for their son, who said the last person to make him a parrot was a man named Bill in New Zealand. Did he have a wife named Kath? Dave said. The answer was yes - it was me and my husband! Dave and I are mates on the internet, and it's cool to have a sudden connection like that.

Cheers,

P.S. Now, this sausage act at a wedding - sounds interesting. It wasn't by any chance "hide the . . ."? Oh, never mind.
