Hello!!!!
Second time lucky LOL, was too busy just peeking about not saying hi the first time so got deactivated... D'oh!

My name is Kate, Im 34, married with 2 kids and have a new found passion for latex!!!!!
I have one of those personalities (and tight budgets) that means its not unusual for me to see something, be wow'ed and think- I can do that!!!  ...needless to say, I wanted something different for my sons party last october and stumbled across the world of balloon modelling!
My first introduction was on stage with a redcoat type holiday rep on a caravan park back in the 80s when i was a little girl who was lucky enough to have 5 mins in the spotlight and help the amazing wonders within a staff show. I left that holiday able to make a cute little poodle and it was my party piece for years to come!  A few years ago, my mum ordered me a modeling kit from the bookclub to go in my xmas stocking figuring i may just advance to something else.  Christmas day saw me insanely frustrated as I couldnt get the balloons to do what I wanted! I know now it was because in the words of my children "mummy says dont bother because theyre crap balloons"   ahem, well, they werent great!  an internet click later and my xmas pocket money spent and i could finally make the magic happen!   Jump to last October and a quick peek on the internet again and I wow'ed the kids at Jays party presenting Teddys on hearts to the girls and spiderman no less to the boys!  Of course, several doubting parents also left wow'ed as i'd taken my balloon box of goodies incase there were any casualties and I found myself twisting at the end of the night and even leaving a monkey on a tree behind the bar as thanks for over running on time!!!!
After that, I became talk of the playground and the obsession launched! All of this years xmas money was spent on lots of non crap balloons  ;) and i now have the official name of MISS TWISTYWISTY and am proving to be a real life balloon lady as my kids have labelled me!
I'm still new and getting established but Ive done a wedding, several birthday parties and a charity event plus im now being approached by word of mouth for more events including our villages queens jubilee fete :)

I just wanted to say hello and thankyou to you all, indirectly and totally by accident, you have shared your passions and knowledge to which I am very grateful!
I really hope I can be accepted within the balloon community and look forward to making new friends soon :)

Much love- and extra thanks to Graham for all the help so far!

Kate :D   ps- thankfully i can talk and twist at the same time ;) LOL x

What a great read and intro and welcome to the forum, glad you finally got sorted.
The quote above made me smile as the forum in certain council library's in the UK is banned due to the home page having the phrase for all latex lovers  :D

Hi Kate,

Welcome to the forum. You sound similar to me (age, two kids, how you started and passion growing into an occupation!) Look forward to sharing ideas with you.

:D well, if i've got it right, hopefully this should show you the bear on heart and spiderman i managed to pull together for Jays party... i think the biggest chore was making spidermans face but we turned the adventure into a tv night and hubby helped out showing me where i was going wrong!LOL! Eventually i was so good at getting it wrong we agreed he was in charge of heads ;) clever me LOL!!!  again, only had a silver sharpie as still not quite sure which white pen i need and refuse to pay rediculous amounts like $20 shipping to try and fail!!!!
Im quite pleased with where im at now, infact i find it hard just to do simple things now as i look at them almost in disgust if that makes sense???! LOL...  Thanks for the welcome- catch you all soon no doubt! x
