Hi all

A bit of an introduction - I am Jason and my wife is Rachel, we are both balloon twisters and have been registered on here for a while, but just never got around to getting on and having a look. We have met quite a few of you guys at different lectures and care and share days. Now that I have joined the Twisters Club I thought I'd better get a bit more pro-active.

my background - I have been a magician for about 20 years now, when I first started magic, a few magic friends and I used to go to the pubs and clubs in manchester trying to practice on the public. Obviously as a young guy then, going up to young girls and asking "do you want to see a trick" didn't really work! I read somewhere that the best way to attract a crowd and interest was with balloons, so I learnt some of the decent basic models (monkey up a tree, dog with meatball in stomach etc) and started to twist these at the pubs so that we would get a crowd over and then be able to perform magic (which always worked!).

I met Rachel when I was trying to get a stage show together and was looking for an assistant. About 5 years ago we picked up a Don Caldwell dvd (Mad Hatz) and then everything changed!!! The Balloon bug hit!

Now we get more bookings for balloons than magic, although I am still working as a Magician and Rachel is doing Children's Magic.

We have been to Twist and Shout once so far - which was a few years ago in Boston. I love watching the balloon dvds and have purchased every single one that I have found for balloon modelling - I now have a collection of over 200 dvds on balloon modelling and try and spend as much time as I can re-watching and learning.

I am also very close friends with Gilbert Adams and I promote his dvds in the UK for him.

If anyone has any questions or anything - I am always happy to try and help.

so again, nice to meet you all

Jason (and Rachel)

Always nice to have new members and glad you decided to join in  :D   Nice little read about how you started Jason. We must be pretty close on the DVD front count.
I did post all mine on here a while ago but have since added to the collection. I need to get Gilbert's DVD, I think it's called about a big toe/foot or something like that.
I remember you saying it was good at one of the days.

Gilbert's actually got a few dvds out -

His first was The Work of Balloon Artist Gilbert Adams
His 2nd was Storytelling with Balloons (lot of Gospel type routines)
His third was Everything but the Toes

He is just releasing his 4th DVD which is on the way to me as I type. I am unsure of the exact title, but know it covers a lot of bracelets. He taught some of them at the FCM last year and sent me a copy of the lecture - they are really cute and I cannot wait for the new DVD, should be really good.

If you want to get any of his DVDs or are interested in selling them from your sites then let me know and will discuss it with Gilbert

cheers mate

I feel like sayiing "Welcome", but you've been twisting for a few years longer than me, so might be better to just say hi!
